Shop and Trades Program

The Staff of Freedom Gates Boys Ranch is very excited to be adding a shop and trades class this fall.
Mike Simpson is an accomplished welder, and I have worked as CNC Service Tech for 12 years.
We have been dreaming of starting this class to teach the boys real world skills they can use in their day to day lives, as well as giving them more career opportunities. The boys are excited and have put in many hours helping clean and prepare the shop we will use for the upcoming class.                The class will alternate between Mechanics and Welding.
These skill will give the boys a great advantage in life as will save them time, money, and teach them problem solving skills.

MECHANICAL CLASS GOALS
Automotive
1. The boys will learn the basics of auto repair and be able to identify the various components of a vehicle and what their purpose is.
2. We will teach them how to diagnose automotive issues with an emphasis on helping them find the actual problem the first time.
3. They will learn how to repair and replace various components of a vehicle, as well as oil changes, radiator flushing, brake pad replacement.
