Some things we can't learn
from a textbook, but we can learn from a horse.

Trust

Our horses are able to show us trust by being able to a communicate with a 1200 lb plus animal that doesn't speak our language. Through our voice and body language we begin to develop a bond that begins and grows into something beautiful.

Connection

Being able to connect with someone besides a person. Horses do not judge, they don't care what you look like, they just want to be with you. Sometimes that is all you need is a big ol horse neck to through your arms around when you are having a bad day.

Responsibility

Horses need us to provide proper care, training and nutrition, they can't do it without us. Horses teach us to start caring about something besides ourselves. They push us to be more responsible, which in turn helps us to be better person in life.

Meet Our Horses

Cowboy

Cowboy is a 18 year old sorrel Quarter horse/Mustang cross. He came to us from Bennies Barn in Enid, Ok. Cowboy enjoys all types of treats but especially loves giving the boys their first ride on a horse. Fun fact, Cowboy has a brother here in our program and his name is Whiskey

Whiskey

Whiskey is a 16 year old bay Quarter Horse/Mustang cross who also came from Bennies Barn in Enid, Ok. Whiskey loves to play with anything he can get his mouth on from ropes to even your shirt. Whiskey's brother just happens to be Cowboy who is also in our program.

Sophie

Sophie is a 22 year old off the track Thoroughbred whose registered name is Sharacco's Revival. Sophie is the sweetest old lady and the perfect horse for both our beginner and more advanced riders. She will lope circles all day if you let her.

Partner

Partner is a 11 year old bay registered Paint/Thoroughbred cross, his registered name is Howdy Partner. Partner is our newest horse at the ranch and is in training to be a future program horse. Partner is the son of Sophie our other thoroughbred. We are excited to see his progress continue and see Partner's future here at FGBR.

Chip

Chip is a 8 year old sorrel gelding and is owned by our Farm and Ranch foreman Kody Haas. He is in training to be eventually integrated into our therapy and riding program. Chip is your typical young horse, but shows lots of promise to be a great addition to our program.
“Think of the horse as your partner and it's all one great dance. That is not to say it is always going to be easy or you will not have to work through issues. But when a horse is troubled or uncomfortable in our world, rather than show contempt for him, you must demonstrate empathy and work to convince him that you mean him no harm. You have some things that you would like him to do 'with you', as opposed to 'for you'- and the best way to do that is as partners. “
