Freedom Gates Boys Ranch (FGBR) is a comprehensive youth development organization with emphasis in sharing the love of Christ with boys; and, to show them that through Christ they can change the course of their lives. They will be able to attain self-esteem, positive self-direction and self-control.

How Great is the Need This year marks 8 years ago that this journey began for me to work with young men that had little or no hope. When I joined our founder, Dennis Blake, it didn’t take long for me to know that I was called to serve young men that needed to know that they held value. What stirred my heart when I started, and still stirs me, is when I hear the stories of young men living with no hope, being moved from one home to the next, living in abuse and neglect, and never knowing that they are seen, known, valued, or loved. What do the boys have to say?
“It was tough but I learned to love it and kept wondering when I would be going home. Now I don’t want to leave, I want to stay.” “I was sad when I first came to the boys ranch. I did not know what I was going to do. I am excited now because I know there is always a tomorrow and that someday I am going home.” “My first 60 days were confusing trying to understand what I did and what got me here. But now I know and I have accepted FGBR to teach me to do right. I was thinking I need to go home and I need to get out of here. I was feeling depressed. I just didn’t show it. Now I am thinking I get to leave at Christmas to go home to my family and friends and I’m happy because I have progressed this far.” |
